We spent almost a week back in May in and around Turin, having driven down through France with our trusty caravan. We just fancied visiting an Italian city and having been close a couple of years ago at a family wedding, we thought we’d have a proper look around in more detail this year. It didn’t disappoint.

Once we’d successfully negotiated the Metropolitana di Torino, we did what we always do when we get to a new city – stopped in a bar and got ourselves oriented (that’s not me by the way).

Like many Italian cities, the joy is exploring the long vistas of colonnaded streets…

…and watching the citizens go about their day to day lives.

There’s plenty to satisfy the postcard home type of snapper..

I got excited and dragged The Photographer’s Wife off in the car to seek out the Stadio Delle Alpi which, I adamantly informed her, was the historic stadium where England gallantly lost on penalties to West Germany in the 1990 “and Gazza cried”.

I should have checked Wikipedia where I would have found that a) it was never a historic stadium anyway but specially built for the World Cup and b) it only had a short and unhappy life before being demolished in 2009 and replaced by this rather faceless corporate arena.

Forza Juve!!
